Blueberry Diesel Strain Genetics

This strain’s genetic makeup comprises cannabinoids and terpenes. THC is the dominant cannabinoid, with levels between 13% and 23%. Some hemp producers like Botany Farms have created CBD Blueberry Diesel variants of this strain. If you’re looking to get the benefits from Blueberry Diesel without the high associated with THC, this flower is a great option.

Other cannabinoids in Blueberry Diesel are CBD (< 1%) and CBG (~1%). This strain also contains terpenes, the most abundant being myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene. Of course, we expect flavonoids and other essential fatty acids to complete this rich genetic makeup, but at the moment, we don’t have much info on this.

Lineage

The evolution of cannabis strains is a vastly complex subject. Still, historical records suggest the massive number of strains we see today came from a single cultivar belonging to the Cannabis sativa L species.

Blueberry Diesel’s lineage is equally complex. Internet information suggests its parents, Blueberry and Sour Diesel, are themselves hybrids of Afghani, Purple Thai, another sativa strain of Thai origins, and Northern Lights and Chemdawg, respectively.

In essence, Blueberry Diesel is a super hybrid since its parents are also hybrids.

Blueberry Diesel Strain Terpenes

The different flavors and aromas given out by cannabis strains come from chemical compounds called terpenes. Though typically occurring in trace amounts, terpenes produce noticeable effects that depend on their composition.

Blueberry Diesel’s terpene profile consists of myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene. Myrcene is common in indica strains, which makes sense considering Blueberry Diesel is indica-dominant.

Blueberry Diesel Strain Effects

This indica-dominant hybrid ticks all the boxes! With THC concentration levels ranging between 13% and 23%, it’s an easy pick for experienced users. The low-THC varieties still give a potent but uplifting “high” that triggers creative energy and improves mood.

Appetite stimulation is another desirable effect, especially for users struggling with eating. And since the “high” doesn’t tamper with your energy levels, Blueberry Diesel appears to be an excellent strain for daytime and evening use.

As mentioned earlier, myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene are the primary terpenes in Blueberry Diesel. They could be responsible for the sedating and calming effects that Blueberry Diesel produces since they are associated with these effects.

But moderation is key. When taken in higher doses, Blueberry Diesel can produce adverse side effects like headaches, dizziness, increased nervousness (paranoia), dry eyes, and cottonmouth.

Considering its cannabinoid and terpene composition, Blueberry Diesel might be beneficial for the following conditions:

  • Appetite loss
  • Depression
  • Nausea
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Migraines
  • Insomnia

Blueberry Diesel Growth Information

One of the advantages of Blueberry Diesel is that it can be grown indoors or outdoors.

For outdoor cultivation, Blueberry Diesel requires a semi-humid climate with daytime temperatures of between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The crops typically grow to 4 and 6 feet in height, so for indoor cultivation, pruning is necessary to train the plants’ height.

Flowering time

To bring out the blue and purple colors in the buds, the trick is to expose the crops to cold temperatures at night just before they flower. This strain flowers within 7 to 8 weeks when grown indoors and is ready for harvesting in late September to early October when grown outdoors.

Yield

Generally, outdoor plants give better yields than their indoor counterparts. So, expect around 18 ounces per square meter for indoor crops and roughly 21 ounces for outdoor crops.
